I caught OTR at Cornerstone Fest last year and the experience was best described as a haunting, beautiful sadness - a nice precursor to the Drunkard's Prayer album.
This year's set was even more beautiful but the mood was decidedly more upbeat, a sort of wellspring of joyfulness tempered by wisdom. Karin was both serious and playful in the interludes and she worked the crowd in a way that I've never seen her do before - confident and strong. Some of my friends felt that this show wasn't as good as last year's show. I strongly disagree. This was one of my top 3 OTR shows ever. The only drawback was that one of the other festival stages sound bullied its way into the Gallery almost drowning out OTR. The set ran from 12:00 to 1:10 with a four song encore taking it to 1:30 AM.
The musical lineup was:
Karin Berquist: Vocals, Acoustic Guitar, Keyboards, Hand Percussion
Linford Detweiler: Keyboards, Electric Bass, Background Vocals
Kim Taylor: Background Vocals, Acoustic Guitar, Hand Percussion
Rick Plant: Electric Guitar, Electric Bass
Devon Ashley: Drums, Hand Percussion
Chris Granger did an awesome job of mixing the sound and Brandon Dawson did a great job of keeping the guitars tuned.
