I don’t guess anyone here in the South knows who Casimir Pulaski is (unless maybe you live in Savannah), but I’m told it’s a semi-big-deal in the Midwest, particularly in Chicago.
Anyhow, I just like the holiday because it might be one of my most favorite Sufjan Stevens songs. It’s such a heartbreaking and beautiful song that the first time I heard it, I almost had to pull the car over and stop driving. It’s still an amazing punch in the gut a couple years later.
