A Midsummer’s Night Dream… in April

Spencer had an idea for an April Fools joke of sorts (and normally when Spencer is behind something like this, I am very fearful), but this turned out to be a great idea. A group of us guys planned a night out for the ladies and totally suprised them, they had no clue what was coming. All we told them was to dress up nice and for those who had children, get a babysitter, because we’re going out on the town.

We headed downtown for dinner at Ray’s In the City and then from their took them to The Shakespeare Tavern to see a production of A Midsummer’s Night Dream The play was, in all of Shakespeare’s wit, side-splittingly funny. The actor who played Bottom stole the show with his antics, but the actor who played Puck was also riveting. The whole second act where they produce the play within the play was the highlight of the night and well done.

A whole lot of fun for us suburbanites who don’t go downtown much anymore. And now I know why I don’t go downtown as much. I must be getting old, because driving down there is like navigating an obsticle course, what with cars coming from out of nowhere and construction blocking the road with no warning, and of course all of the one way streets that never go where you want them. Plus, finding parking is like the cherry on the top of this dessert (and of course, it always costs money). Yes, I am a fat, lazy, suburbanite and I don’t care. I will take my wide highways and gigantic parking lots and I will like it.
