This is the show that broke Chuck’s brain. Mute Math had just released their first full-length CD after wrangling with their label for seemingly forever. I’m sure the devoted fans and people that attended their show at Cornerstone the year before knew what they were in for, but for the rest of us, this was a totally new experience. Paul Meany had played at Cornerstone to critical acclaim with his previous band, Earthsuit, but this show shot his new band into a new level. Here’s the encore song “Control” from their 2006 show.

“Control” isn’t really one of my faves from Mute Math. It’s an OK song, but not their best.
Still, that show was incredible. The sound check took forever, but once they finally played, it was great. The crowd was into it, the band was feeding off the crowd – an all-timer as Cornerstone sets go. I can’t believe it was 4 years ago!
