Cornerstone Vids #26: Starflyer 59 – 2005

Ten more videos to go! Can you believe it? We’re almost to the festival!

I don’t know if there’s anyone at Cornerstone Festival as nonchalant as Jason Martin. Every year he comes to the festival, does his thing, and then disappears once again and he seems just fine with that. Every year, with a couple of new songs, it seems like the same show. The mood and vibe is rocking and yet relaxed, no crowd surfing here, the crowd is in some sort of trance. Just a lot of noise and some mumbled vocals, but every year the crowd loves it. Starflyer 59 shows are hypnotic in that way. Here’s SF59 playing one of my favorite songs by them at Cornerstone Festival 2005:

  1. They all run together, but I think this was the first time I saw Starflyer (I didn’t much care for them until about this point in their career). I had a brutal migraine, so I just sat on the ground outside the tent by myself and listened to the show. (It’s not like there’s really much to WATCH at a Starflyer show, anyway – they aren’t what you’d call a very visual band.)
