Well, I'll be Scrooge ... I didn't miss gathering in Nashville this year. I mean, I missed seeing you and Adriene. I missed seeing individual folks. I didn't miss seeing everyone all at once and feeling like I couldn't talk to anyone for a long time without excluding someone else. It was a good change for me, personally, but I'm sure that I'd be open to gathering next year.

I think that you've well-captured what happens at these shows, although I think that we'd both agree that they're best experienced live. That said, a bootleg of the 2001 AP Christmas show is already extant, and I recorded the night previous to yours in Nashville. [Dunno how good it'll sound.] So it's out there.

Minor niggle: the closing hymn is "O Come All Ye Faithful". This year, I finally let myself keep my eyes open during the hymn, so I finally saw everyone leave the stage. It's a bit like having your eyes open during prayer, I must admit, but I wanted to see it for once. It didn't have the magic that closing your eyes does when you start into "Joyful and triumphant / O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem" and then finishing with "Christ the Lord!", opening your eyes, and seeing an empty stage.

I took three friends to the show this year, and they were all greatly thankful.
