Scott gave me a hard one. He wants to know if Georgia Tech and NC State met in the national championship, who would I cheer for? That’s really, really hard to answer.
See, I grew up on NC State sports. My dad is a State alum, so he lives and breathes Wolfpack sports. The first sports t-shirt I owned was a 1983 National Championship shirt (which my parents are still holding onto). Jimmy V was darn near worshiped at my house.
But, I put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into my time at Georgia Tech. I worked my ass of to get that degree. I spent countless minutes at football, basketball, and baseball games while I was there. So, I actually think I have a bit more of a pull towards Tech.
So, I think I’d cheer for Tech. But I’d have a State t-shirt on underneath my Tech one in case the game started going badly for Tech.

(LOOK! Two posts within a week!)
Jason, I have no earthly idea where Carmen Sandiego is. In fact, I never watched that show growing up. (I wasn’t much of a TV watcher as a kid. I read a lot. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case these days!)
Jason also wants to know the answer to a few questions about motherhood:
1) The one thing motherhood has taken away from me that I miss the most is probably time for myself. I know that sounds so typical of a mom, but you really don’t realize how little time you have to do little things you want to do when you have kids, or when you’ve planned something for yourself, only to have to change plans at the last minute. A recent example I can think of is finally getting an appointment with my hair stylist (I am in BAD need of a cut and color), only to have to cancel it at the last minute because Gracie’s come down with a stomach virus and can’t go to Mother’s Morning Out. So, I’m going to have to sit here for a few more days with straggly gray hair until I can get things rescheduled. Also, the last pedicure I had was back in August right before the girls were born. Sigh.
2) The biggest surprise of being a mom? Hmmm. I guess discovering that serious old Adriene can act silly every now and then. It used to be hard to imagine me sitting on the floor with babies making faces and silly noises at them to get them to laugh, but now I do it on a daily basis. But don’t tell anyone. I don’t want them to know.
3) The thing motherhood has given me that I enjoy the most is love, I guess. Sure, I had plenty of love in my life before they arrived (I love my husband, of course, and my parents are pretty awesome as well), but it’s just a different sort of love with the girls. It’s something that you really can’t put into words. I think the best way I’ve heard it described is that it’s like having a part of your heart walking around outside your body for the rest of your life. It’s really something different and lovely.

(And those of you who point out how long it’s been since my last answer will get mailed a “present” from Erin and Gracie. And you won’t like it. I’m looking at you, Scott.)
Brandy wants to know what office quirk annoyed me the most. I used to work on a trade floor in an open-workspace setup. Basically, we sat at long banks of desks and didn’t have walls separating our workspaces, so there was very little “insulation” from others around us. I think the biggest thing that annoyed me about it was that smells traveled VERY far on the floor. There was a very sweet woman who worked two rows over from me, but she marinated herself in old-lady perfume and it reeked. Or the guy who ate fish more days than not for lunch. Or the other guy who decided to “crop-dust” our row every time he walked past. So yeah. Unpleasant smells were probably the biggest office annoyance for me.
She also wants to know which blogs I read on a daily basis. The “big name” blogs I read are:

- Miss Doxie (who hasn’t updated her site in FOREVER)
- The Amazing Adventures of Overshare
- Smitten Kitchen
- Stuff White People Like
I also read most of my friends’ blogs on a daily basis (so yes, Brandy, that includes you). I’m more of a blog lurker, though - I don’t comment unless something really sticks out at me. Or unless you write something I have to make fun of.

Kathleen wants to know what my greatest fear regarding Erin and Gracie is, as well as my greatest hope.
I guess my greatest fear is that I’m not going to get the whole motherhood thing “right,” and that they’ll be adversely affected by it. I knew countless people growing up whose parents really screwed up, and it affected them badly. I’m a worrier by nature, and a lot of my time is spent these days worrying about them - how much they eat, if they’re sleeping too much, if they’re sleeping too little, what does that cough mean, etc. I just have to tell myself that the mere fact that I worry about them so much is proof that I do care enough and that I’m doing everything I can to keep them healthy, warm, safe, and loved.
My greatest hope for them is that they’re able to grow into confident, independent, godly women. I want them to be realistic, but I also want them to pursue the dreams that they have and not put them aside just because they’re “not practical.” And I think having a good relationship with their Heavenly Father will do a lot to help them realize their dreams. I guess the best way to show them how to love Jesus is to lead by example.
