Yet another reason why I love Starbucks.

Yes, I am one of those people with an unhealthy addiction to Starbucks coffee. A couple of years ago, I was looking for a new credit card, one that would get me some rewards. I stumbled upon the Starbucks Duetto credit card, and I was sold. It gives me a portion of every purchase in Starbucks money, so I haven’t actually had to pay for coffee in about a year and a half.

A couple of weeks ago, I got an e-mail from them saying that due to a computer error, the balance of Starbucks money on my card was accidentally wiped out, but not to worry, they were fixing the issue. A day later, I got another e-mail saying the money had been returned to my account, and apologized for the inconvenience. (It really wasn’t an inconvenience, because I hadn’t been out to get coffee that day, so I never would have noticed if they hadn’t e-mailed me about it). I thought it was nice of them to let me know, though, and just kind of pushed the whole issue out of my mind.

Yesterday afternoon, I went to get our mail, and I noticed a box in our mailbox from Starbucks. A big box. I was a bit confused, so I opened it once I got inside. Y’all, it was a whole big bag of Starbucks coffee, along with a note apologizing for the whole snafu with wiping my balance out. How cool is that?

One more reason why I love Starbucks. :)

There are a lot of companies that could take lessons from the way that Starbucks handles their customers.

Hello! Just thought I’d share this research I found on the web…Coffee is actually good for you!!!

According to a study, comprised of 200,000 Finnish men and women, with 30 years in duration, the Archives of Internal Medicine published in 2000, that women who drank coffee were less likely to die from any cause, and moderate male coffee drinkers faced lower risk of death from heart disease. As well, a Harvard School of Public Health study, found that consumption of more than 68 oz of coffee per day lowered risks of type 2 diabetes by a significant amount. In addition to these studies, there has been proven evidence that coffee drinkers have a lowered risk for cirrhosis of the liver, development of gallstones, asthma, and boost of memory. A study for the Food Chemistry at the University of Munster, in 2003, found that an anti-cancer compound, methylpyridinium, found in coffee can actually help fight cancer. Not to mention coffee’s anti-oxidant properties found in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Oslo. “Coffee, a drink once held in great suspicion, still believed by some to stunt one’s growth, may soon be touted to be a general tonic, as the pendulum swings from considering it to be a drink of the devil to the other extreme, as a brew that can cure whatever ails you.” (www.ineedcoffee.com)
