IT’S STILL NOT HERE!

Posted in My Immaculate Taste in Music, Rants at 6:28 pm by Adriene

SUNDS!

I pre-ordered X&Y from Coldplay’s website so I would have it the day it came out.

It came out yesterday.

And I have yet to receive the CD in the mail.

I’m thinking of writing Chris Martin a letter.

Guess this is a good reason to get me to “work”

Posted in Rants at 11:23 am by Adriene

So, I apparently can’t access The Rumor Forum today.

(See, if someone would renew their domain name on time, I wouldn’t have this problem. ;))

Luckily, the aforementioned “someone” reminded me that I have a blog.

But then I reminded him that I have to be creative if I post here.

I’m not in a creative mood today.

So, I guess I gotta work.

People-Watching at RenFest

Posted in Tee Hee at 3:31 pm by Adriene

Anyone who knows me longer than five minutes knows I’m a people-watcher. In fact, it’s probably one of my favorite activities. I just enjoy sitting back and watching people go about their daily lives, and notice the little quirks everyone has but you don’t pick up on unless you watch them closely.

Yesterday Jeff and I accompanied his parents to the Georgia Renaissance Festival in Fairburn - about 20 miles southwest of Atlanta. Let me tell you, this is people-watching heaven. You’ll see people in any manner of garb from the usual rural Georgia cut-offs, wife-beater, and mullet to people who you know have spent thousands upon thousands of dollars on the perfect reproduction of this:

But, in all, we had fun. And I came away with some loot as well - a few teas and seasonings from the Raven’s Nest, as well as a nice silver necklace in the shape of the Celtic symbol for the Trinity.

Running into old friends…

Posted in Ponderings at 9:21 pm by Adriene

Tonight, while Jeff and I were perusing our local B&N in search of birthday presents for his mom, dad, and sister (yes, we’re broke during June), we ran into one of my sorority sisters from college and her husband. She and I were definitely friends in college, but we weren’t buddy-buddy.

But it’s amazing to me that, after not seeing each other for a couple of years, how you can immediately pick up and talk non-stop for two hours in the middle of a bookstore before you know what’s happened. And we could have gone on for longer if our husbands hadn’t pulled us away from each other.

Most of our conversation consisted of dishing out the news of other sisters who one or the other of us haven’t seen in a while - who’s gotten married, who’s gotten pregnant, who’s gotten divorced :(, etc. It’s usually in the middle of conversations like this where it hits me that, suddenly, I’m a grown-up. I’m having conversations about people doing grown-up things like having children, or about friends of ours who have screwed up and cheated on their spouses.

But wait a minute - I’m not old enough to be talking about stuff like this, am I? I’m still young, right? Yes, but alas, I am an adult, and with being an adult comes adult worries and adult problems, and those very things you swore happened to people OLDER than you are happening to you at that very moment.

But, feeling old aside, yay for reconnecting with old friends. We really need to have Jen and Malcom over for dinner some night so we can catch up some more.

Girl Fight!

Posted in Rants at 8:22 pm by Adriene

Kari and I are fighting over Roger - we both put him in our list of those whose turn it is to do the “project” next.

Although I notice that he’s moved me to the “Obituaries” section of his blog.

Hmm. Methinks a beating is in order.
