So, Andrew Osenga has joined the blog revolution. You can see his handiwork here.

Now, just pray I don’t start haunting that site and turn into raging fan-girl. :)

The best laid plans…

Posted in Ponderings at 11:46 am by Adriene

Well, it all started out as a harmless April Fool’s Day joke.

The Bartenders over at RMFO.net were all sitting around trying to figure out a great prank to play on the rest of the board.

Should we fake that the board crashed? No, what would happen if, in fact, it did accidentally crash in the middle of the joke?

Should we stage a “revolt” to remove the Tyrant? No, that would seem too transparent.

Aha! Let’s fake that we’re merging the board with the webboard!! BRILLIANT!

Or so we thought.

Looking back, it was poorly executed, at best. There are lots of “should’ves” that weren’t done, that should have been. We didn’t notify the mods over at the webboard. We probably egged the situation on a bit more. Timing wasn’t the best, given world events over the past few days, which already had some people upset.

But, even though our intentions weren’t malicious, it came across that way to some of those who weren’t involved in the joke. As I’ve stated before, I consider most everyone on the board a friend. By my definition, a friend is someone you cry with, laugh with, and even play the occasional joke on. Which is why I didn’t see the harm in the aforementioned gag.

But, in addition to all of that, a friend is someone you say you’re sorry to when you hurt them. And undoubtedly, this little gag hurt people more than I could have ever imagined it would. So, I’m sorry. Not sorry that we wanted to prank them (because, given the right joke, the right timing, etc, I’m sure we’d do it again), but I’m sorry that we didn’t think out the repercussions of the joke before implementing it.

So, with that, I apologize. Let’s move on, forgive and forget.
